Mind Capital: From 12 Years in a Tuna Restaurant to Publication

[Brand Magazine] Accumulating the Asset of Attitude: News on the Upcoming Book "How Much is Your Mind Capital?"

Recently, Goldtuna (골드참치) finished writing the manuscript for the new book "How Much is Your Mind Capital?" and delivered it to the publisher.

Currently, we are in the stage of coordinating specific publication methods and schedules. Prior to the official release, we would like to share the definition of 'Mind Capital', the core concept of the book, and the background behind its writing.

The keyword presented as the central theme in this work is ‘Mind Capital’.

Beyond economic assets or technical capabilities, humans possess intangible assets that are invisible but accumulate over time, becoming a driving force at decisive moments. Mind Capital is a concept that originates from this very perspective.

Explaining the background behind writing the new book ‘Mind Capital’

Mind Capital is built through the repetition of attitudes toward people, work, and relationships,

and it is an invisible asset that protects oneself and makes one move again even in difficult moments.

The Continuous Accumulation of Attitude: Why 'Capital'?

Simply having a temporary mindset and forming Mind Capital are two different matters. The reason for using the term 'capital' is because its value possesses the property of accumulation.

Small daily choices—such as the meticulousness of remembering a customer's name, the courage to face mistakes and apologize, and the humility to never stop learning—may not manifest as immediate, noticeable results. However, when these attitudes are repeated, they form trust in relationships and, in times of crisis, translate into the resilience to stand up again.

Mind Capital cannot have its balance checked as frequently as financial assets, but it is a practical asset whose true value is revealed only when situations become difficult.

The Core Driving Force for Overcoming Failure and Achieving Growth

When I took over the Goldtuna Bangi branch (방이점) in 2015, the location was a place where management was so difficult that the owner had already changed several times. In the early days, when professional culinary skills and massive capital were lacking, I started by going directly to the site to meet customers.

  • An attitude of doing one's best in a given calling

  • Remembering visiting customers as individuals

  • A posture of admitting deficiencies and continuously learning

  • Facing challenges head-on without avoiding responsibility in the face of obstacles

These choices accumulated to create the Goldtuna of today. This book is not a simple collection of management techniques, but a record of the attitude with which an individual stood up again amidst adversity.

5 Core Values Comprising Mind Capital

The core principles of Mind Capital derived while organizing the manuscript are as follows:

1. The Power of Persistence: An attitude of maintaining one's duty even when results are not immediate.

2. The Power of Relationship: Building trust by treating others as individuals rather than mere figures.

3. An Attitude of Responsibility: The honesty to admit mistakes and face problems directly during a crisis.

4. The Habit of Growth: A posture of constant exploration based on intellectual humility.

5. Maintaining Authenticity: Consistency where inner beliefs and outer actions are in alignment.

Mind Capital that Respects the Customer's Time

Restaurant management goes beyond simply providing taste; it is a process of fully preserving the value of the time and cost invested by the customer. The attitude of valuing that time spent with precious people is the most direct form of Mind Capital practiced on-site.

Asking About the Value Accumulated Within Us

The standard for measuring the size of Mind Capital is not grand success, but the attitude we choose at every moment.

  • What kind of attitude do you maintain while living your life?

  • Do you push forward silently even when results are not visible?

  • Do you remember and not forget those who have helped you?

As we prepare for publication, we will continue to share pieces of reflection from the book one by one through this media page.
