The journey begins once more.
As 2019 opens with a quiet heat, it is time to give shape to the visions held in the mind.
What is it that you wish to achieve?
When this year draws to its close, how do you hope to look back upon it?
It is said that life follows the path of our dreams.
Today, on the first day of the year, I stand at the threshold of those dreams.
On Personal Intentions:
1. Making 2019 a year where family aspirations take root.
"A family is the vessel that holds my dreams and my life’s work. I will fill it with love and laughter. I strive to be the best husband and the most devoted father." Let this mission guide every action within our home.
2. The continuous recording of a kitchen diary.
One day, these small, everyday stories will become the nourishment for a book of my own. I will build this into a warehouse of narrative.
Through these entries, I will protect my emotional sensitivity and maintain the strength of my voice. The mind grows dull without the sharpening stone of reflection.
3. The challenge of the marathon.
The body may not be ready today, but the goal is set for the autumn marathon. A five-hour finish is possible with steady effort. Three runs of ten kilometers a week is all it takes. "Health is the vessel for your mission. Maintain it at its highest peak."
It is time to return to the paths around the lake and find that rhythm again.
4. Monthly journeys into the world.
Exploring the quiet beauty of our own country. Two days and one night are enough to find balance and perspective. It has been far too long since I truly rested. From now on, work and respite will coexist. In those quiet places, I will write, read, and allow my mind the freedom of stillness.
Goals for the Restaurant:
5. Consistent outreach in the neighborhood.
Walking the streets to share our story at least three times a week. This is a practice to overcome internal complacency.
The immediate result matters less than the discipline itself. Whether the room is full or quiet is not the primary concern. This is about personal integrity and the standard I set for myself.
6. Pursuing the standard of 77 million in monthly value.
6-1. The heart of a guest is delicate. If they feel slighted even slightly, they may drift away. Hospitality is much like a long-term courtship; it requires constant care and attention.
6-2. If ingredients are the foundation of a dish, then the story is its essential seasoning. Focus on building that narrative. Use every digital channel to share our philosophy, learning from those who have successfully bridged the gap between kitchen and guest.
6-3. True connection creates lasting impressions. Heartfelt hospitality has no material cost, yet it defines the experience. I will continue to share this philosophy with my team through constant dialogue.
6-4. Quality is a given. Once the basics are mastered, find the one extra gesture that surprises. When giving, do so with intentionality and grace, making the guest feel the weight of the gift.
6-5. Invite the guest to be a part of the occasion. Allow them to feel like a participant in a celebration rather than just a customer. When they leave with a beautiful memory, they form a lasting bond with this space.
6-6. Guide the guest through the meal. Explain the nuances of every texture and flavor. Just as a flower only truly blooms when its name is called, a dish becomes an experience when its story is told.
6-7. Celebrate the auditory landscape. The sizzle of the kitchen, the gentle rhythm of the music, and the bright, welcoming voices of our team—these are as much a part of the meal as the food itself.
6-8. Create a connection within the first five seconds. A warm voice, a genuine smile, and a posture of the art of sincere service. We should receive guests with the same deep respect and focus one might offer at the most significant of life's gatherings.
6-9. Let the visual presentation speak first. Every plate must be a vision of beauty that commands immediate attention.
6-10. Never offer a simple "no" to a guest. Instead, find a new path or a creative alternative that satisfies their needs.
My Role Within the Family
7. For my son:
- I will help him cultivate habits that serve him well. We will exercise together and learn the value of a disciplined, meaningful life.
- I will be his constant support, a mentor who guides and encourages. My goal is to ensure he lives a life free from the weight of regret.
8. As the eldest, I will fulfill my responsibilities to my siblings and my mother. I will remain attentive to their needs, expressing my care through small but consistent gestures, and working diligently to resolve family concerns so my mother may find peace of mind.
