Eleven years ago, a restaurant on the brink of demolition was reborn as a beloved destination. As I reflect on this miracle, I wish to record a small pledge for the journey ahead.
"March 3, 2015.
A small second-floor restaurant that no one visited
has gracefully become a cherished landmark.
After eleven miraculous years, I now serve you
with an even deeper sense of responsibility."
As we wait for the cherry blossoms of Seokchon Lake to bloom, March brings the first whispers of spring. When the cold wind recedes, I am always reminded of that spring eleven years ago, spent applying glue to flyers. Today, as Goldtuna stands as a premier brand, I wish to share our profound gratitude.
From an empty room to a community of 45,000
This second-floor space had failed twice before we arrived. I remember staring at an empty doorway on our opening day, waiting for a single guest. As a novice owner wearing a balloon on my hat and running through the streets to sell simple rice bowls, every day of the last eleven years has felt like a miracle.
Steady growth maintained each year, even through times of global hardship.
The privilege of serving 45,000 cherished guests over the last decade.
Global recognition with over 200 million views for our signature celebratory craft.
The enduring standards of Tuna No. 9 and a fifteen-course journey
This success belongs to our guests who recognized our quiet dedication. We have always held the belief that while there are expensive things of high quality, cheap things rarely meet the same standard. We have poured our time and resources into ensuring excellence without compromise.
Adherence to Tuna No. 9—the top 1% grade with over 60% marbling.
A 15-course omakase designed for perfect temperature and texture.
Hinoki cypress trays and ergonomic leather seating for a two-hour experience of comfort.
An 11th Anniversary Declaration: Embracing Responsibility
Through your overwhelming love, we have become a known name. While I could easily focus on personal comfort, I believe Goldtuna is a brand built by our guests, and thus carries a social responsibility. This year, I make three promises.
Establishment of a Tuna Academy: Sharing our technical expertise and management secrets with the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Publication on Hospitality: Releasing a book about the "heartfelt capital" that revived a failing business.
Strengthening the Brand Story: Focusing deeper on the narratives we share with our guests.
11th Anniversary Celebration Event
Q: Are there special benefits for visiting during our 11th year?
A: Rather than simple gifts, we wish to heighten the joy of your meal. Throughout March, guests can experience the signature celebratory cocktail performance that has become a Goldtuna tradition.
