Gold Tuna CEO’s New Book “Mr. Tuna’s Mind Capital” Hits Kyobo Online

I am Choi Yeon, the CEO of Goldtuna (골드참치).

My recent book, "The Tuna Man's Heart Capital," has been officially published through Kyobo Book Centre online.

Drawing from 20 years of experience in corporate education and 12 years of operating a tuna specialty restaurant, I have captured the values accumulated through work and people in this single volume.

Introduction to "The Tuna Man's Heart Capital"

When working in a business for a long time, we often encounter performance metrics that can be converted into numbers, such as sales or the number of reservations. However, it is difficult to record in a quantitative ledger who reached out with a helping hand during a management crisis, who gave a second chance after a mistake, and how those experiences changed one's personal attitude.

During the writing process, I reflected on the past. A significant portion of the achievements I thought I had accomplished on my own was actually thanks to the consideration and trust given by others. There were times when someone waited silently, hearts that returned consistently, and advice that allowed me to correct my errors.

I have named these bonds and beliefs built through dealing with people and work, as well as the inner strength that leads to making the right choices even in difficult times, "Heart Capital." In this book, I describe the process through which that driving force was formed and the decisive moments that helped me stand back up.

Five Core Values Comprising the Book

The text is composed of five parts. It systematically contains stories about management recovery, memories of assistance, fulfillment of promises, learning through experience, and the practice of principles.

  • Resilience: The will to find the next step and start again even amidst unexpected difficulties.

  • Gratitude: A mindset of discovering the dedication and help of others that exist behind individual achievements.

  • Trust: A responsible attitude of keeping small promises and honestly admitting errors.

  • Growth: The power to reflect on past experiences and lead to practical changes in behavior.

  • Authenticity: The posture of consistently adhering to self-established principles regardless of others' perspectives.

Each chapter includes real-life cases encountered during the process of operating the restaurant. I have described in detail the choices made at specific points, post-hoc reflections, and the operational methods improved through them.

About the Author, Choi Yeon

Before starting the tuna specialty restaurant, I worked in the field of corporate education for 20 years. As the CEO of the Future Talent Development Institute, I supported the growth of organizations and talent by conducting numerous corporate lectures and management consulting.

Later, to realize my long-held ambition for cooking, I acquired a tuna specialty restaurant in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu. For 12 years, I have dedicated myself to cooking, customer service, and organizational management, and I currently operate the Goldtuna Bangi branch (방이점) and Sinsa branch (신사점). I also communicate with the public through my YouTube channel, "Tuna Man."

My main focus was how to implement the knowledge I acquired as a corporate education expert in an actual management field. The answer to the question, "Am I realizing the values I have emphasized in my own workplace?" is fully contained in this book.

A Word of Recommendation

I hope this book reaches those who are seeking a new path, those who have lost their vitality due to stagnation, or those who wish to organize the trajectory of their past lives.

I hope these writings are read like a comfortable conversation shared over a meal. If you feel gratitude toward someone or gain the momentum for a new beginning through this book, it would be the greatest reward for me as an author.

I also express my deep gratitude to all the customers who have visited Goldtuna. The time spent with those who visited consistently and all those who left precious opinions and encouragement became the foundation for this book.

Beyond the sincerity of a single meal, I now wish to convey my heart through these words.
