Before running a tuna restaurant, I worked in corporate education and consulting for a long time.

If there was a lecture, I went to the company; if I wanted to meet someone, I made an appointment and visited them. It was natural for me to move in order to meet someone.

Now that I run a restaurant, I stand in the opposite position. When I keep the doors open, people with all sorts of different stories walk in.

This time, two people came all the way from the United States to Korea for their wedding anniversary.

It wasn't just my profession that changed.

While I used to be someone who sought people out, I have now become someone who serves food to those who seek me out.

Serving a meal is a form of care older than you think

When I think of the person who fed me most often as a child, my mother is the first to come to mind.

Even Louis, the cat I live with at home, recognizes the person who feeds him. When it's time to eat, he follows that person around.

Thinking about it, the act of offering food is a very ancient way of caring.

In a restaurant, that act becomes a profession.

The cost of a meal paid by a guest contains the time they spent to earn that money. If it's an anniversary, it also includes the time they specifically set aside to spend together.

That is why I try not to take the job of serving a meal to someone lightly.

The reason I choose good ingredients, prepare them in a set way, and check the seating before a guest arrives is ultimately because I am responsible for that one meal.

The two people who visited Goldtuna Sinsa branch this time came from the United States. I heard that they planned a trip to Korea specifically for their wedding anniversary.

I didn't ask for their specific travel itinerary or the reason why they chose Goldtuna among many restaurants.
